1. Hand in "The Painted Door" WAQ paragraphs.
2. Read "The Lamp at Noon" by Sinclair Ross (full-text).
- Find quotations from this story in preparation for your Synthesis Essay tomorrow.
3. Synthesis Essay topic: Compare and contrast "The Lamp at Noon" and "The Painted Door". Using textual evidence, analyze how setting and imagery illuminate theme.
*Criteria/Format:
A. Intro (Theme statement, thesis statement, transitional sentence(s)).
B. Body (1-3 paragraphs): Similarities and Differences re: theme/plot/characterization, literary devices (imagery, metaphor, irony....) - transitional phrases/sentences - 6-8 quotations (I,I,C,E) from BOTH texts
C. Conclusion (See intro; restate, summarize in different words).
4. You will begin writing in-class tomorrow, it will be due Monday.
