Eng 11(S)

1. Hand in "The Rocking-Horse Winner" paragraphs
2. Continue planning Literary Analysis essay (bring your outline/rough draft on Monday)

  • You may compare "The Lottery" and "The Rocking-Horse Winner" or just focus on one work
  • You may compare the story and film versions of one or both works
  • Reminders: Use quotes and paraphrasing as evidence (aim for three quotes from each work), ensure you properly incorporate quotes into your paragraphs and cite your sources (i.e. author, page number), you may use the films as a reference point, you may use other research outside of the stories and films as evidence
  • Aim for five paragraphs: an introduction, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion
  • Each paragraph needs a topic sentence, evidence, and a concluding sentence
  • Transitions help an essay flow! A list of helpful transitions
*We will be working on this in steps and editing as we go - I will sit with you one-on-one next week and give you pointers/edit your rough draft*
*Next week we will work on THESIS statements*
