Writing
1. Hand in good copy of narrative essay.
2. Poetry practice --> read the poems "Gracious Goodness" by Marge Piercy and "To Have Succeeded" by Ralph Waldo Emerson.
*For each poem:
- What is the theme (main idea)?
- How do you know? Use quotations from the poem.
- Create a theme statement (general) about the poem (example: The meaning of success differs for each person).
- Identify 2 literary devices (ex. metaphor, simile, alliteration).
3. Tomorrow: Multiple Choice Questions, Compare/Contrast Paragraph (Using quotations from each poem, describe how each author defines success.)
