1. Review questions #38-46 (p. 99-117).
2. Read p. 118-132; answer questions #47-53 (review tomorrow).
3. Begin prepping your mid-novel WAQ. Respond to the prompt: Why is the novel called The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian?
- Choose theme(s) to analyze; for example, stereotyping, the effects of colonialism, individual vs. community, internal vs. external expectations.
- Create a theme statement; for example, Bias is deeply entrenched and can have negative effects.
- Create a thesis statement; for example, In Sherman Alexie's The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, Junior's decision to go to Reardan exposes the stereotypes each race holds against each other, resulting in Junior's increasing loneliness and alienation.
- Find 5 quotations that support your thesis
