1. Notes: Theme, thesis statements, Well Answered Question (WAQ) format, quotation integration.
2. Review literary devices: define and provide examples for the following:
- metaphor, simile, juxtaposition, analogy, symbolism, irony (situation, dramatic, verbal), apostrophe (not the punctuation meaning).
2b. Jot down ideas/examples for the following themes (for tomorrow's discussion):
- Good vs. Evil
- The nature of competition
- Community vs. Isolation
*Paradox example: In order to establish a strong community, it is necessary to exclude some.
*Paradox definition: Seemingly contradictory ideas that illuminate a universal truth.
3. Tomorrow: Review short story elements, discussion of English 11 themes.
